Mill Point Archaeological Site
Mill Point, a short distance from Boreen Point on the shores of Lake Cootharaba, is the site of one the earliest European settlements in the Noosa Region. A sawmill operated at Mill Point from 1871-1892 and supported a thriving community.
Thanks largely to the efforts of local organisations such as the Noosa Museum, the site has now been listed on the Queensland Heritage Register.
On Saturday 26th August 2006, PhD student Steve Nichols, one of the Archaeologists working at Mill Point, gave a presentation on the archaeology of the site and the results of fieldwork to date.
