For those of you who have never visited us, the Noosa Museum situated in Pomona has a vast and varied collection from the past. The Museum was founded by the Cooroora Historical Society in 1985 mainly as a means to preserve what was rapidly disappearing of the past. The Museum houses an extensive and impressive collection of photographs capturing many moments of our pioneering past as well as modern moments that will one day be an important part of local history. We also have a library of books about the Noosa Shire & newspapers dating back to the early 20th century. Visitors are welcome to look through the library, photographs and our historical records. Please note that fees are payable for photocopying and for any research work undertaken by museum staff. ***** NOTICE BOARD ***** Due to limited volunteers the Museum may not always be open on a Saturday. We recommend you ring us prior to your visit to confirm our opening hours. ************ New members and volunteers always welcome. ******************************************** Find out more about the history of the Noosa Shire hinterland communities with a copy of "The history of...Pomona, Cooran, Kin Kin, Cootharaba, Skyring Creek," compiled by Ruth E. Page in 1970. We have copies available at the Noosa Museum. Price is $8. See our Publications page for this and other local histories. ***** Noosa Shire Museum is a Tax Deductible Gift Recipient (DGR) 29 Factory Street, Pomona, Queensland, Australia . |
